It's important to look around when you are near water as there might be lots of hidden dangers that you or your children can't immediately see. Ensure your children are wearing things that keep them safe, like a lifejacket, read any safety signs, learn what the beach flags mean, and always ensure that you swim where there is a Lifeguard! The final part of the Water Safety Code is FLOAT. Make sure that your children know what to do if they fall in the water - they should spread their arms and legs like a star, float and shout for help. If you see someone else in the water, throw them something that floats and call for help.
