A small plane crashed while trying to take off from Linden Airport in New Jersey Saturday afternoon, the FAA said. Only the pilot was aboard the Cessna 172S when the accident happened around 3:35 P.M.

The pilot was the only person on board the plane that went down in New Salem around 7:40 p.m. Friday, officials said.

Massachusetts State Police said the crash occurred north of the Quabbin Reservoir near New Salem.

At this time, it is believed only the pilot was on board the plane
